Summer is here and whatever kind of music you're into, 'JUICE'
free under 18 club night is for you! It's on Friday 23rd July at the
Welly Club, which is at the town end of Beverley Road. The night is
from 6-9pm and is open to all young people aged 13-19.
Room 1 - Live music from Manchester's breakthrough indie
band, The Heartbreaks & local support.
Room 2 - Topgroove (Uprising) - Hardcore Dance
DJ set & turntable, scratching & Mcing workshops!

Update 14.07.10
Clued Up for Summer activities are now organised. Rhema is
taking the lead on an Alton Towers trip on Thursday 5th August and
a Lightwater Valley trip on Tuesday 17th August. If you're 13-19 and
interested, come to the centre for a letter and permission form. Places
are allocated on a first come, first served basis but with priority
for young people from the Wyke area of the city. For info on all the

Update 18.03.10
Time to get your party on! It's nearly time for the latest
FREE under 18s club night. It's on Saturday 27th March and this time
it's at the Welly Club, which is at the town end of Beverley Road.
There will be a live set from Geordie indie band, Little Comets, who
are signed to Columbia Records as well as support from a young local
band. The night is from 6:30-9pm and is open to all young people aged
11-17.

Well done to those young people who wrote bids to the Youth
Opportunity Fund. We wish you the best of luck when the panels meet
to make their decisions.
Update 16.02.10
The Youth Opportunity Fund lets young people bid for money
to pay for activities or equipment for young people. Monday 15 March
is the deadline for funding bids to be in. If you want Rhema to support
your bid, please come and speak to a member of staff. For more details

Update 24.11.09
December will also see the Wyke Christmas Cracker free youth
event. There will be bouncy castles, sumo suits, free food and loads
of other fun stuff. Free to young people aged 11-17, the event will
be 7-9pm on Wed 9th December at Community Church, Hull on Newland
Avenue. It has been organised by Rhema Youth Works, Hull Youth Development
Service and Wyke Play Partnership.
Update 18.11.09
December will see the second free under 18s club night at Asylum,
Hull Uni. It's for young people aged 11-17 and will obviously be an
alcohol and drug free event. The event, organised by Rhema and partners
from Hull City Council, will feature Dance, Chart, Indie, RnB music

In December, we will be putting on two free trips to the theatre.
The first will be on Monday 14th December to see 'Shakers' at Hull
Truck Theatre. This is open to all young people. The second is on
Thursday 17th December to see 'A Christmas Carol' at Hull Uni, which
is a Girl's Work Group trip. Speak to staff for more details.
Update 09.11.09
We will soon be starting a new piece of work on the Quadrant
in partnership with RESPECT. We will be running a drop-in session
at the RESPECT/Eternal Benefits resource centre, targeting unemployed
young people aged 16 to 19. The drop-in will be on Tuesdays, 2-4pm
and will start on Tues 1st December.
Update 06.11.09
Congratulations to the young people who made successful bids to the
Youth Opportunity Fund. The YOF panel made decisions on bids at the
end of October and there were three bids backed by Rhema. One group
of young people gained funds to get stereo equipment for the drop-in
area at the Rhema Centre. Another group successfully bid for money
to by a new drum kit and group lessons with a tutor. Finally, a group
of young women got funds to arrange a trip for the young women's group
to Butlins.

We are doing a trip into town to see the big firework display.
Collect a permission form and make sure you get it filled in and bring
it back. Meet at the Rhema Centre at 6pm and we will pay bus fare
there and back.
Update 07.10.09
Rhema will be doing a joint trip with Hull Youth Development
Service to Rock City during the half-term holiday. The rock climbing
activity is booked for 10am-1pm on Thursday 29th October. There will
be a very limited number of places available so speak to a Rhema staff
member asap to avoid disappointment.
Update 19.09.09
Wednesday 16th September saw the Rhema annual awards evening, combined
with the Rhema AGM. Young people who have completed Rhema's Supported
Learning Programme were there with family members to celebrate their
success, along with Rhema staff and trustees.
Young people collected their eDCC IT certificates aswell as certificates for the ASDAN CoPE (Certificate of Personal Effectiveness) qualification. This qualification is nationally recognised and equivalent to a GCSE. A number of young people also achieved First Aid and Health and Safety certificates.

Update 14.09.09
Everyone here is really excited following the internal renovations
of the centre. The front drop-in area has a new floor, newly plastered
ceiling and walls, new lighting, a new kitchen area and has been totally
repainted. The IT Suite has a new carpet and ceiling tiles and has
been repainted. The Training Suite has a new carpet, newly plastered
ceiling with new lighting and has all been repainted.
Young people are delighted with the new look of the centre.

Rhema Youth Works is a Christian faith-based support project for young people in Hull. We work with 13-19 year-olds, particularly those who are socially excluded or at risk of exclusion. We offer holistic support to help young people make successful transitions in life, particularly in the areas of education, training and work. We offer open-access evening sessions, a daytime Supported Learning Programme and one-to-one business start up advice. |
