Jimmy's Story

"I struggled at school but Rhema has really helped me sort out my problems and get on with my learning"
Jimmy, 16

"Jimmy" (name altered) joined the Supported Learning Programme in January 2008. He was instructed by his school that "Rhema was his last chance", having previously been thrown out of similar projects around the city.

Jimmy integrated well into the existing group of students and seemed to enjoy the program. Jimmy worked well at most tasks, often working into breaks and even coming in on the holidays to finish work off. Jimmy has taken much pride in his work and after just over a year on the programme achieved a CoPE Level 1 qualification, ten I.T. certificates and a first aid certificate.

While at the project Jimmy also found a desire to perform music. Much of his free time was spent in our music studio playing guitar, drumming and singing. Jimmy says, "I struggled at school but Rhema has really helped me sort out my problems and get on with my learning". Jimmy started college in September 2009 and is doing really well.
